2011–Dad & Lad Road Trip–Dads Blog 22/4 Day 1

Stage 1 Home to Aberystwyth

We left about 10:45 and started west. The weather was great, mood was too,

Planned to stop at the end of the motorways, but did not find anywhere sensible, so we stopped at Welshpool.

Welshpool

A very pleasing little town, but not what i expected.

A nice Railway station, if you like these things and a canal. The town was bedecked in bunting, but little else. We walked around for an hour.

We parked in Morrisons, had a walk and got some food, before we hit the road again

Devils Bridge

I came here as a kid with my parents, we did it on the train.

We parked up and started the short walk to the bridges. A loud clap of thunder, a few big spots of rain.

We looked around and got back to the car just in time, Heavy Rain.

Aberystwyth

Savannah House

We found the B&B, looked ok. No one in, so rang the owner who said he would be here in 10 minutes.

Checked in and was shown our room.

Now the first thing I do is turn the potage stamp sized telly on, I did and got sound only, went and got the guy who let us in, ooops its broken after a quick call to the boss, so we changed rooms and got room 3 instead of room 2.

Now Room 3 is at the front, 2 is at the back. 2 has en-suite, 3 does not, but is a larger better room, and the telly worked!

Ed was relaxing on his single bed and spotted a few issues with the room, however we stayed in it. This is real bonding!

After an hour chilling and trying to get the internet working, we went for a walk around the sea front.

North/South

We walked along the front, down the pier walked to Wetherspoons. Now finding that was a challenge, but came across a helpful bobby, who was window shopping (sorry patrolling) the town, who pointed us the right way. The old saying of never finding one when you need one, did not come true today and the other old saying did.

We ate and went back to the room for sleep, tomorrow is a whole new adventure.

I managed to get my network connection working so I could post this stuff!!!!

2011–Dad & Lad Road Trip–Lads Blog 22/4

 

The day started as a hot and quite lifeless journey down to the land of the the welsh. As we drove, father and son, hand in hand, we stopped off at Welshpool for a bite to eat and to experience the historic past. Later on, to our astonishment, we figured out that there was no more than a train station and a variety of poorly situated shops. Not the best of starts, but it soon picked up.

Furthermore, as we continued our road trip through Wales we stopped off at a so called bridge built by ‘Satan’ which was layered in three ways. This was a fairly impressive and interesting structure as to how and why the bridge was built in this fashion. Throughout the day, the weather was exquisite and i felt my blonde locks of hair being taken control of by the inviting and calming winds, but this did not last for long as it soon started to rain and very heavily at that, so we picked up the bags and headed off to the car, this is where our day came to a near end.

As we arrived at our destination, we were greeted by a man, which can only be described as a foolish Asian. He gave us the wrong wi-fi code, thus meaning me nor poppa-smurf could access the internet, so we hit off to see the sights and get a bight to eat, a lovely end to the first day!

Well the final piece of the jigsaw has been placed in our first road trip!

 

Friday

Home to Aberystwyth via Devils Bridge, we may or may not do the train.

Saturday

Aberystwyth – Caernarfon via Portmeirion, Cadair Idris (just on the road there)

Sunday

Caernarfon – Old Trafford via Mount Snowdon

Monday

Old Trafford – Home via Old Trafford football ground and some other places!!!

Will try and fit in a few stone circles and long train station names, a paddle in the sea and a few beers as well!

07/04/11–The Cannon, Newport Pagnell

Another manic night, I was not on form, so went then left before playing following a single soda and lime!

Oh the rock and roll life.

06/4/11–Slug & Lettuce, Milton Keynes

 

It was their birthday today.

Dee won some CD’s which he gracefully gave to me. This was won in the pass the parcel.

Followed the featured artist, a lass who’s name I missed, but she was very good.

I got on a bit later than I prefer, so was a little drunk.
